If someone had asked me in the beginning 2019 how I would see myself today, I would have never imagined how far I have come. I was not sure whether to start this project; I was full of doubt and fear. However, I did not let these feelings control me and decided to start this journey. It has had ups and downs, but it has been very positive for me.
I finished my collegiate tennis career in the end of 2018 and decided to move to Miami. I wanted to keep involved in tennis somehow. I thought about how to continue in the tennis world for a while, and even though I was frightened of starting my coaching services, I realized that tennis is my passion and concluded that becoming a coach was the path to follow. So I got down to work
Luckily, I could expand rapidly. In the blink of an eye, I was spending half-day on court teaching and coaching. I received help from many people, to whom I am very grateful. Special thanks to my cousins, Luifer and Toño, who have helped me too much and have allowed me to grow my coaching services. Also, I am lucky to work and be part of the best recruiting agency: University Sports Program, or USP. I have had the opportunity to keep involved in College tennis, my favorite format of the sport, by helping organize one the biggest College Tennis Showcase of the country and assisting other players in accomplishing their dream of becoming a student-athlete at the best American universities. Special thanks to Thomas, Carlos, and Oscar.
Nonetheless, not everything has been a fairy tale. I have had many obstacles and troubles, which have not been easy to overcome. I have just tried to keep going and deal with them as I go along. I learned that there is no perfect path: there will always be barriers on the road, such as fear and doubt. The key thing is not to let control by those barriers, but to learn to deal with them and eventually overcome them.
We are currently facing tough times. This obstacle is changing the world, and it is our duty to learn how to adapt to these changes. In the meantime, I decided to expand my services. I am going to be sharing more than just in-person lessons and college recruiting consulting. I want to share a different kind of content in my new blog and web page: opinions and insights that will give you another perspective of this beautiful sport.
After all, this journey has been amazing, and I want to keep moving as the world does. I am very grateful with my family (special thanks to my parents, Dani, and Kini), friends, and everyone who has helped me get where I am now. Although I have been through tough moments, I remember the good ones. I learned that the only right path is to follow what you love, your passion. In my case, tennis is the way, and whatever involves me with tennis will make me happy, as I have been in the past year and a half.
